A study published in the journalJAMA Dermatologysuggests that the use of finasteride for menopausal symptoms can be safely avoided by patients taking a prescription for the drug.
The study authors wrote: “In the context of sexual dysfunction, the use of finasteride as a treatment option has been associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, endometrial cancer and other cancers. A meta-analysis of the data from 12,948 patients who received finasteride for the treatment of endometrial hyperplasia found that finasteride was associated with an increased risk of invasive breast cancer, endometrial carcinoma, endometrial stromal cell adenocarcinoma, and a reduced risk of endometrial hyperplasia.”
According to the authors, “The authors’ findings are consistent with an observational study published in the journal showing that finasteride treatment for the treatment of male-related symptoms in menopausal menopausal women with an intact uterus was associated with a reduced risk of endometrial hyperplasia.”
“These findings confirm the findings of theJournal of the American Academy of Dermatologystudy, which found that patients taking finasteride as a treatment option for menopausal symptoms had an increased risk of endometrial cancer and endometrial stromal cell adenocarcinoma,” said the authors. “The study also highlights the importance of careful and informed use of finasteride, which is a prescription drug that should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional.”
“It is important to note that the authors of the study did not compare finasteride to other treatments, such as oral finasteride or topical minoxidil, as these medications may have different pharmacokinetics,” wrote the authors. “The results of the study support the idea that the use of finasteride is safe and effective for menopausal symptoms.”
A study published inDermatology Todayprovides the results of the study with a full report with more detail about the use of finasteride in post-menopausal women with an intact uterus.

Finasteride is the trade name for Propecia. It is a generic name for the medication. Finasteride is a drug prescribed for the treatment of male pattern baldness. This condition is most often caused by the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and it is also known by the brand names Propecia and Finasteride.
The active ingredient of Propecia is finasteride, which is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. This means that the 5-alpha reductase enzyme is converted in the body into a more potent enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. This enzyme is responsible for the production of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is also present in hair loss.
Finasteride can also be used to treat some of the other conditions caused by DHT. It is also used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, a condition that affects the prostate.
The medication is available only with a prescription from a doctor. It is not a cure for the condition. However, it is a treatment for men who have symptoms of prostate cancer. The condition may also be treated with surgery or radiation treatment for prostate cancer.
The medication works by blocking the enzyme 5-alpha reductase and blocking the conversion of dihydrotestosterone into DHT. The amount of DHT available is reduced by approximately 80% and it is this conversion that causes prostate cancer.
In addition to stopping prostate cancer, Finasteride also slows down the growth of BPH in men. This is to prevent prostate cancer from returning. This makes it a good option for men who have a recurrence of prostate cancer.
Finasteride is also used in the treatment of hair loss in women who are at least 60 years of age. It is also used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men. This is because the medication works by blocking DHT and increasing the levels of DHT in the body.
Finasteride is available as a generic drug. This means that it is available only with a prescription from a doctor.

This is not a complete list of side effects that may occur with the use of Finasteride. It is always best to discuss any potential side effects with your doctor or pharmacist.
Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle Finasteride because it can cause birth defects in male fetuses. It is also important that Finasteride is taken at the end of the treatment course. It is important that the drug be taken as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next treatment course, the drug is usually discontinued.
Finasteride is used to treat symptoms of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), such as frequent and difficult urination. Besides this, it is also used to treat male pattern hair loss.
Finasteride contains Finasteride, which works by blocking the action of male hormones that cause prostate enlargement and hair loss. Thereby, it helps treat BPH and male pattern hair loss.
In some cases, Finasteride may cause low sexual desire, impotence (erectile dysfunction), abnormal ejaculation, or trouble having an orgasm. Most of these side effects of Finasteride may not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
Do not take Finasteride if you are allergic to any of its components. Finasteride is not intended for use in women and children. Keep the doctor informed about your health condition and medications to rule out any side effects/interactions.
Treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) and male pattern hair loss.
Finasteride belongs to a class of medicines called 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors used to treat symptoms of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) in men with enlarged prostate. It also may decrease the need for prostate surgery. Additionally, it is also used to treat male pattern hair loss. Finasteride works by blocking the action of male hormones that cause the prostate to enlarge and hair loss.
• Finasteride can be taken with or without food. • It is usually taken once daily at the same time each day or as prescribed by your doctor. • Swallow Finasteride as a whole with a glass of water. • Do not crush, chew, or break it.

Finasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor used to treat symptoms of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) in men with enlarged prostate, also called benign prostatic hyperplasia reflux disease (BPH-RID), or enlarged prostate cancer. It also is used to treat male pattern hair loss. Some common side effects of taking Finasteride are low sexual desire, impotence, trouble having an orgasm, and headache. Most of these side effects may not need medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects may soon or get worse, please consult your doctor.
